Enough is enough

For the past year or so I have had some shutter in my rear end on occasion but not constantly. I have a 97' scab 5.4 auto 4x4 and the 9.75 ls. Im planning on taking it to my local shop tomorrow to have it checked out. I have added friction mod. once or twice and it seemed to help but its finally time to solve the problem for good. Im guessing the clutch packs need to be rebuilt or something is wrong with the spyders. Just wondering if anybody else has had there ls rebuilt and how much I can expect to pay.

Have you ever changed the diff lube instead of just adding friction modifier?

Not recentlly but there were no metal shavings when I added the friction mod. the other day and the lube is still clean, either way it should still be inspected.

I had a simular problem in my old 97 f150 (traded it in march w/ 188,000 miles)

oil was clean, no shavings - turns out the yoke(?) was cracked in two places- across from each other so when i put it in gear the two pieces where just pushing against each other

I hope i'm explaining this right
