Sweet. Do you think 4.56 would have been better? I am looking at them right now but wondered what 4.30 would be like. Great job with your truck brother, truly a class act.

They might have but I didnt want to be doing 2500 rpm at 70 mph the 4.30s worked out great as far as still being able to drive on the highway and my gas mileage has been better also and I've been getting on it all in all I am extremely happy with the upgrade.

So what will be the best for upgrading I have 3.73LS gears should I go with 4.30 or 4.10? I have 20" stock wheels. Sorry if I'm high jacking your tread.

4.10's over 3.73's are not worth the expense. However, if you have 4wd, you can't get 4.30's, they don't make them for the 8.8" reverse cut front axle.

I went with the 4.30 becasue 4.10 wouldnt have been that different from the 3.73 and the Saleen 23's I put on needed a liitle more and Im glad I did but I didnt want to go with 4.56 either so becasue I only had a 2WD and they make a 4.30 for 9.75 rear end it worked out great

Like GLC said 4.10 wouldnt be worth the cost with the difference in the amount of pep that you get from the 4.30 versus the 4.10 would probably make all the difference in the world dont worry about jacking my thread thats what its here for to help guys out and get them the best info to make their decision for their truck

So the 4.30 wont fit my 06 4x4? What gears can I use to upgrade? Or do I have to stick with my 3.73?

For an '06 4x4 you can go to 4.10, 4.56 or 4.88 gears.

Most on this forum recommend 4.56 as the upgrade path from a 3.73, especially if you have larger tires.

Depends on how many miles the truck has over 50,000 miles they recommend changing the bearings which you can buy a master bearing kit which they replace everything when they are in there replacing the gears but if you dont have that many miles or if youve already had the bearings replaced then just the gears and thats it

Go with 4.56, you won't regret it. If you're going with some big meaty tires, then 4.88 will do the trick nicely.

No matter what the mileage is, you're going to want to pick up a master rebuild kit for the front/rear diffs when you're regearing. You might as well if you have the diffs open.

Nice Man! I'm thinking I'm gonna do 4.30's as well. I only have 3.55's now so it should make a nice difference. Picking up the supercharger first week of Nov too so she should be screamin soon enough!

Did your truck have the factory LSD? Mine didn't so I'm thinking about doing a Detroit TrueTrac LSD when I do the gears. Where did you pick your gears up from?
