well i've got a partial line on a 10.5 for $600 plus s&h (unless my uncle will bring it on his way through) which is listed 3.73 with a locker. i assume its disc rear listed with the v10 motor. I should probably get front and rear matching at the same time to save time. maybe i can find 4.30 ratio with my 35" tires and not have to bother with 4.56 gears. this would save some time and effort, plus retain the tone ring idea without extra thought and labor lol

seems like a good idea.

But you wont beable to get 4.30's in reverse cut for the front.

Here is what I know of the 10.25. Pre 1997 it was a full floater used on the F-250. In 1997 with the F250 HD it was still a full floating. 1999 Ford stopped using a 10.25 full Floating axle and switched to the 10.5 full floating and the Dana's on the SuperDuty. 1997+ it is used on the F-250 LD and F-150 7700# option and it is a semi floating axle.

from what i see the 10.25 can run a 10.5 gear with a different master install kit? sounds like the housing is the same from either axle range.

wtf is the front axle? d60 or something ford got a hold of and made different? i seen one article on a f350 that called it a d50 up front. goofy looking and retarded design process. why would you neck down axle shafts to the same size as a d44 spline on a 1ton truck?

The only reason Ii can think of is that it saves money. You can then use the same knuckle as the D44? Why does ford use an 8.8 in the front of our trucks?

as in SAS... id say go 4 link and coilovers

But if you go leaf sprung you could get ahold of Farmboy Fabrications he has a complete SAS kit for our trucks.

i think with the weight you haul, and the amount of power your throwing though your drivetrain a 1 ton axle would be nice.

Id say around 8" of lift would be PLENTY to clear 40's if you set it up right. Cut out the IFS crossmember, and get the thing nice and flexy.

If not then id say 12" of lift (8" lift springs) and 40's

The amount of lift is alot different when doing this.

My rear springs are only 12" lift springs but im around 22" of suspension lift. front springs are 16" lift springs. I used a block in the rear cause im gonna do a shackle flip for more flex and i didnt want to have to buy smaller springs.

You have to account for the axle tubes, spring perches, and hangers into the amount of lift.

the rear i figure i could get away with the old block treatment for a while and use my alcan leafs which are 7" of arc. i only want as minimal lift as possible so i can still squeeze under my lance camper which is already up on 4" blocks to get under it comfortably now lol. so i was actually wanting to stick to 35" tires or so. maybe it will be 37
