F 150 4x4... 4.6 Litre.... MPG proyect....???

I have a Ford F 150 4x4 five speed on the floor with a shifter on the floor to engage the 4x4 and first question is this.....On the differentials which is the best gear ratio to improve fuel economy.....(no towing)

Is there any noticeable improvement by adding a performance exhaust system ?

What about programmers...? :o

It would not be worth changing gears in your case. To see any real effective change (maybe 1 MPG), you need to usually step up or down 2 levels of gear ratios (ie. a 3.73 to a 3.55 would not be enough). A programmer can help but you would not get the benefit of shift firmness b/c you're 5 speed. What are you getting MPG wise now...don't forget it is a truck, not a civic.
