5.4 triton

Hello

Im looking at a 2001 f350 with the 5.4 trion v8 engine.it has 125,000 miles on it. how has this engine been doing for ford??

I had a 99 f150 with the 5.4 with a 115,000mi bone stock with nutin but a plug change. no problems at all. I now have a 99 with a 5.4 with 55,000mi. and lookin forward to many miles of no payments!!!!

If the price is right, you should be quite happy. That engine is pretty solid and even takes small modifications quite well. Plus, it's a fair bit better than the 4.6L which can be underpowered if you are looking to pull anything. The 5.4L has a bit more low end torque.

it's going to seem underpowered in that big of a truck. I had a 6.8 (V-10)in my F-250 and got better mileage than my neighbors with the 5.4 and i could pass him any time i wanted

but if you just want a larger truck aren't towing huge loads 24/7and it has 4.10 or 4.30 gears then you'll be fine

thanks everybody.it looks like its a good engine.i will not be towing anytthing heavy.

5.4 is a good motor. ive got 61k on my 01..it will seem underpowered for a superduty .make sure when it comes time for a plug change find someone who knows the 5.4 good.

the earlier 5.4 2v had some spark plug issues.. do a search and youll find all kinds of info.you said your looking at an 03 right?? i believe they put more threads in the heads that year so..should not be a problem.

I ended up with a 2004 5.4 F250sd.it drove nice.so the 5.4 had the same problems as the v10 did??
