clunk when turning

I have a 2002 supercrew 4x4 with 4.6l and 130k miles. Here is my question - when I move from a stop with the front wheels turned either way I get a clunk(just one) that I can feel through the steering wheel. It doesn't happen immediately upon shifting but after the wheel rolls a little. Seems like the clunk gets worse the sharper the turning is. I know the front drive shafts spin all the time on my 2002. Do I have a front u joint problem or a balljoint problem. Any ideas?
