Lockout hub problem

Hello all,

This is my first post in this forum. I did search first.
My truck is a 92 F-150, 300 ci 6cyl, 4 speed.
My lockout hubs will not unlock. My manual says to shift from 4WD to 2WD and drive in the opposite direction from which I was last driving in 4WD. If the hubs do not unlock, shift to 4WD and repeat. It works 1% of the time.
My front drive shaft wore out the front U-joint which I replaced today.
I hesitat to re-install the front drive shaft untill I either fix the froblem or MUST have 4WD.
I have tried cleaning (They were not dirty) and relubed the hubs and tapping on the hubs while the vehicle was moving in 2WD.
No joy on either move.
Has anybody reading, had this problem and solved it?

Regards to all, Karl
