4.10 gearing this week, talk me into it.

I drive maybe 200 miles a week, around town. Maybe 20-30 of those are freeway miles. My truck currently sits on 265/60/18 tires, with 3.55LS gears. I want more low end, will the improvement from 3.55 to 4.10 be worth the $400 or so to get regeared? What will my max speed in each gear look like?

There are a few people that really like the 4.10 gears. I have herd of a few lightning guys putting them in and loved them. $400 to re-gear sounds really cheap do you have a 4x4? And is there a possibility of later on going with a bigger tire? Just a few things to consider.

Here is a link with a ton of good info on it. First page shows you how to do it, and the second will have some more gear specific info on it.

Ya I am getting ready to do a 4.56 swap I have all the parts just need to get after it and have them installed. I have a 4x4 though so for mine to be done it is right at $600 per axle with out discounts and $390 with discounts and that is if I supply every last part and fluid needed for them to do it. Not cheap but it will definitely be worth it.

if you are 2WD, i would do 4.30's for sure. 4.56's are a bit much for stock tires, imho.

I am with mini on this one. (I keep forgetting you are only a 2wd) The 4.30's will be a much better gear for ya. I would have got them for my truck but they don't make a 8.8" 4.30 reverse cut ring and pinion.

So if your building a "street truck" and have no plans on lifting it but do plan on going to some 22's 305/40/22's, would the 4.10 be a better choice?

I also have the 2WD w/ 3.55 limited slip. You are riding on 30.5" tires and mine are 32.1". I thought that 4.10 would be a good gear to bump up to. Just enough to give a little extra "oomph" and good for going up in tire size.
