bad leak and more: help

i am getting a bad leak at the front of my driveshaft where it enters the rear of the tranny. i checked the level of the t-case and tranny and they both were full. after a long trip on the highway i can smell the rear end, the gear oil, there is a small leak where the drive shaft enters the rear diff, it was full but i checked when it was hot. also when i am cruising at 70 in OD at 1900rpms when i encounter a hill i feel a clunk, more like 2, like a ba-dunk, and it will do it more than oncee on some hills. the rps dont change but it feels like the torque converter opened up or something, but not fully? im looking for what might be wrong, some things to check.
