Which differential cover did you go with..

Thinking of changing my stock diff.cover on my 99' F150, 4x2, 5.4L,
Lariat/Flareside.
Which one did you use and why so?
Where is the best price on them also or a link to where to get it.
Thanks

I'm looking at a MagHytec diff cover for my '07. Like the looks of it. Very heavy duty and I also noticed that a lot of feature trucks use them. Google MagHytec or do a search. Think you'll like 'em. - Og

dont be knockin the clear gears. i have one and it took the ring gear throwing bolts at it like a champ. gouged but dont leak. unlike that steel cover that became perforated and leaked.

Which truck do you have ? Year ? Engine Size ? Get under the truck and count how many bolts are holding the diff cover on.

I personally am running the Mag0Hytech diff cover. More the doubles fluid capacity and has a Bung already threaded for a temp sensor if you want to do that later down the road. Also has a Dipstick built into it, makes for easy trail checking !! (used it many of times already)

OX lockers is a GREAT product and you can get yourself a FREE cover from them.....

if you buy the cable operated locker ! Which would be damn sweet ! Check em out, I have only installed/played with OX on Jeeps, so not too familiar with their Ford products.

My dif:

My tranny pan:

both are VERY nice products. Both Increase fluid capacity quite a bit, and both allow for quicker cooling.

Sorry bud, didn't see that earlier up at the top.

You have the 9.75" rear end.

And yes, there a quite a few other covers out there, just make sure you stay away from any of the chrome ones, chrome does NOT dissipate heat at ALL !! Also, if your going to do one, I would make sure to get one that holds more fluid.

Mag Hytech is just the best. Its a bit more expensive, but ya get what you pay for.
That guy Crash Lucky13 up above, he can help you out a lot better then me im sure. He can find ya a nice cover for a decent price. He did for me.

I was looking to do this upgrade when I swapped my gears. Do you get the same diff cover for both front and rear for 4WDs?

Well, your rear end is a 9.75" and your front is an IFS 8.8"
So, no they do have different bolt patterns.

***but*** The reason I did not buy a Mag Hytech for my front was because I was worried about fitment/clearence issues. Not sure how it would squeeze in there, but I have not actually measured the specs, just took a look and decided against it (at the time)

A couple days ago a buddy asked me about an aftermarket front diff cover, so I took another look, stayed under there for a little bit and thought it MIGHT work. Maybe today when i get home I will actually break out a tape and get the exact measurements to see if it fits.
I'll let ya know what I find.

On the web I found this: http://www.truckinweb.com/features/0...rew/index.html

They have the Mag Hytech up front, but I am not sure how much customizing they may have done.

If y'all remember, I looked into this around xmas when I got my locker and fron gears done. I really do not think it will clear. you have little to no room between the cover and the steering box. ONly solution would be t odrop the differential more, which could only be achieved with a RIZE or a lift with a larger drop bracket.
