I find myself eyeballing ford rangers.

I just cant help wanting one. I like the way the supercabs look just a little bit lifted. I have been justifying in my mind getting rid of the f150 to get one. I don't really ever haul anything just throw some stuff in the bed. Never carry passengers and never pull trailers. Guess I just want something that maneuvers better and looks sportier.

Better manuverability (ie. tighter turning radius) is about the only thing you will gain by getting a ranger. I just sold my ranger a year ago and got a F150. I get better MPG in the F150, handling is much firmer, power is obviously better, cab is quieter and have more room for the family and other junk, tows the toys better also. The ONLY downside is that it is slightly harder to park in tight spots.

i had a 97 reg cab ranger with a 2.3L and a 5spd and i could pretty much do a u turn on a narrow 2 lane road. i have my reg cab shortbed f150 now with a 4.2L and its a heck of a lot quicker and better in every way except mpgs(ranger 24 average, f150 about 19 before tuner, 17 after tuner. tuner makes my foot heavier...lol) i know im not talking about an ext cab but thats my input on the ranger i had. but the newer 2.3s are a lot more powerful than what i had.

I just need some convincing that its stupid. I guess I just get bored with things. Once I get the seats upholstered and brand new spankin tires I may be happy. Or not. I just don't see the potential for mods on my truck. I must be old fashioned I like things stock and would just like something with some more options.

If you do a gear swap you should be fine. Just depends on how you drive really.

I vote no for the Ranger. I went from a mini truck to a full size, and I would never go back. The first time I got to drive a F350 I wanted one. Made all of my previous trucks feel small.

A guy I work with had a nice lifted Ranger. It still looked small next to my stock height 2002 F150 FX4 on 285's. I wish I could get a pic of it next to my truck, but his wife wrecked it.

They are so tiny and cute if parked next to an F150.

Well let me be of absolutely no help to you. I bought a new ranger back in '89 after owning F150s for the prior 10 years. I did like it, but there were always times when I missed the bigger bed and bigger cab of the full size. So in '92 I got a new F150 SC, and then in '96 I went up to a F250 SC 4WD and have own that for the past 15 years. The F250 is overkill for most of my driving, but it's nice when you need it. I too occasionally look at Rangers and think that one may be in my future again for pretty much the same reasons you give (plus they cost less). But???

When I was looking for a new truck I was considering a Ranger since I also don't do a lot of towing. I drove a few 07-09's and wanted a 4.0 since the 3.0 is a slug in a Taurus, I didn't want it in a "truck". After thinking about it for a while there's less room, less power and you get the same mpg as a 5.4. So I quickly got rid of that idea and got an F150

thats a good point MTM the same gas mileage with less room. You would think they get better gas mileage.
