Thinking of purchasing a 99-03 Windstar or a Freestar used (Quintin?)

I'm thinking of purchasing a Ford minivan as described in the title used as a daily driver in addition to the truck to keep miles off the truck. What are your guys' opinions on the 99-03 Windstar and the Freestars? Opinions from owners on what has broken and your general opinion would be great. I put Quintin's name in the thread title since he works at a Lincoln-Mercury dealer and thought he might still know something about these. Your input would be appreciated Quintin. Have a good day everyone!

I'm not an expert, But I'm looking at buying a Mini Van as well. My reserch has been reading consumer reports, Lemmon aid, ect, and the Windstar Free style generaly score less than avergae.

I'm sure thier allways an exception but the Ford mini Van's use the tarus drive train in a march larger package, brakes, head gaskets, transmissions tend to fail.

Thier a dime a dozen..... as well As chrysler mini Vans....

They're overall good vans. A little crude around the edges, but decent overall. The engines share more problems with the 4.2 liter in F150s than the 3.8 liter; intake gaskets and isolator bolts fail often. Haven't seen very many head gaskets/timing covers from about '99 on up.
