AWD arrowstar...

Help...I need help talking my GF out of buying a Eddie Bauwer, 1995 AWD Arrowstar, Van has 280,000 Km, body and interior are mint, but due to the mileage I'm not so sure the deal is worth it..

I have never ever been a Arrowstar Fan, If The Ford Crowd knows something I don't and can offer some possitive with this Van, Fire away...

Power stearing pump is noisey, as most ford's are, the van rides, stear's fine, but is the most gutless thing I have over driven, I suspect a good tune up can improve performance a wee bit, but the van appear's to be a un heathly night mare for a do it your selfer...

I always wondered what they used powertrain wise for the AWD. I know the five speed versions were the crappy M5OD-R1.

Just tell her it is fugly lookin.

There's nothing nice, mint, or easy about an Aerostar.

Avoid like the plague.

haha, my mom LOVED her Aerostar's... she had an 89 with the 3.0, put 185,000 on it and then got a 1997 with the 4.0. The 4.0 hauled ass.

They never gave us any trouble, but the damn power steering was louder than hell. they are tippy. But aside from that, we didn't have issues with either van.

The 95 Voyager mini van that my girl friend and I were in get Re ended by a real peace ( sp ) of crap, She slowed down to let a stoped let a fire engine with lights and sirens enter a intersection against the flow of trafic, and the jack ass behind us kept going...'

The Voyager still runs better than a lot of the new used mini vans, in the 02 and up years we have test drove, Trobule is the Voyager is now two feet shorter, minis the rear glass and her brothier has the arrowstar and just had new brakes installed.

The engine is the 4.0 and in 95 XLT was the top option package, I know the Arowstar is prone to self combustion.

So the insurance money, small sum, is going to a replacement van, I like the Montana-Venture but I have heard a lot of horror stories with them, as well as chrysler and the Windstar, Yikes...
