Heater core Question?

I noticed that that all the info I've looked up on the heater core change said that it was easier on a pre 97 model the 97 models the entire dash would have to come out. My question is the truck is a model year 97 but built date on it was 8/96 would that make a difference? thanks for any info. Kat

My 87 to 93 book showes both. If you look behine the
clove box there is a black plastic box.
If you see screws around the edges (side and bottom) you do not remove
the dash. If you do not (opening on top), remove dash.
Even ford has to look. Had it done twice.
This is on a 302 1995 f150.
Hope this helps.
