Has Anybody Tried grafting '09 Box Side Steps onto an '04-'08?

I have leveling shocks on the front end, and airbags in the back which, combined with the F-150's infamously (if usefully) high bed sides, makes it a royal pain to get stuff in and out over the side.

I would love to transplant the OEM '09+ Box Side Steps onto my '06.

Has anybody tried that? Can any Ford techs out there tell me if that's a doable thing?

I have the 6.5' box on my SCrew.
