rocker panels and rust repair

I have a 1997 F150:help extra cab 3-door. I would like to find rocker panels and quarter panels to repair some rust damage. I cannot locate them. Even LMC doesn't carry them. Anybody have similar problem?

My '01 Screw is rotted. Both rockers , the left side is almost totally gone. The bottoms of all 4 doors are rusty. Under the truck is rusty also. This sucks "Ford Tough, My A**. Cant really knock the paint, just the body is a big let down. Dealership sucks, I took it to them, and the serivce guy was more concerned with trying to sell me an oil change than actually seeing my problem. First and LAST ford I will own. Do you think any Ford execs actually read these posts? Do they even care ? How about all the rust problem people write to FORD and let them now how we really feel.. Just a waste of our time, they wouldnt care they got our 20k,30k,40k for the truck.OK I am done , good night

Sorry , Other than the dealership , Nobody else has the correct sheetmetal for my screw. At $250.00 as side for just the sheetmetal, looking well over $1000. just to fix the stupid rockers.

I mean from three inches up from the bottom of my sheet metal, my truck is beautiful. I am going to fix it. Heck she runs good and I just put a new trac-loc carrier in it. New tires too. Can't afford a new one even with the incentives they're giving (I'm retired). I only put 4 -8 thousand miles a year on it.

I repaired them . I cut out the bottom of the rockers , the whole length of both doors . I then welded in new metal pieces .If memory serves me, the pieces were 4" x 77" . The key was to fix the rust before it spreads up the sides of the rockers . Mine were just rusted through on the bottom of the rockers . Here are a couple of pics of what mine looked like before repairing them .

I've been preaching this for a long time . If your rockers are rusted through on your 2001-2003 Supercrew , you have a leak . It is either your Windshield , Rear window, Third brake light or a body line crack . Water runs down inside the rocker and just lays there . This results in the rocker rusting from the inside out . In my case , it was the Windshield that was leaking .

How often do you wash your truck? I personally believe, if you had been washing weekly in the winter months along with cleaning the undercarriage, wheel wells, etc. That probably wouldn't have happened.

Please read my post above . You can wash the exterior all you want , but when something is rusting from the inside out , there isn't much you can do . In most cases , you won't even know it's happening until it's to late .When I noticed mine , the rust had made the paint bubble , I pushed on the bubble with my finger , and my finger went through the rocker .

My low mileage '03 Expedition is in the same boat. Badly Rusted rockers - it is almost like this metal wasn't treated with a corrosion preventor. I really need to replace both sides. It is actually hard to notice since the running boards visually block some of the issues.

I don't think washing will help I believe because it all began from the inside out. (I don't think it will hurt either) Clearly water is collecting inside rocker and corroding over time. I am not sure how you'd find the leak. My truck hasn't been in a wreck and seems fairly well sealed...

The truck looks great otherwise without corrosion issues elsewhere. I have owned this since new and I would love to find rockers and just replace from front to rear door. The catch is I think I have to buy the whole side stamping just looking through some of the online dealer pages.

Muskrat Trapper, did you find the stuff to fix your 97 F-150 ?......
If your still looking for the panels there is a place here that handles body parts for the older model trucks....
