Question Other Dash kits?

Are there other dash kits besides the ones that have dead space where the dead space? Maybe something like a small shelf/slot or whatever. I don't like the dead space

There are several kits availible. Some have a small shelf above the head unit. Try Best Buy or Circuit City.

Check this out.....

You also may want to check out these websites for different choices for installation kits.

METRA
Scosche

I used on of Metra's kits above, but I had do do some cutting in my dash to allow the radio to fit all the way to the to, actually I cut the dash out to fit all of the RCA's and other wires.

GOOD LUCK

OR,

You can utilize that hole.

It doesn't have to be empty, does it?

HuskerF150 ,

You could have put the slot on the top, instead of the bottom, an wouldn't had to cut anything. Those kits will go either way.

Lightbulb small shelf

I called Crutchfield about a cd reciever, and i asked what accessories came in the box with this head unit(Pioneer DEH-2300), and a small shelf came with it in the kit. It is just part of the surrounding that covers the extra space up around the cd player. You may be able to order this piece seperate from the kits. I have the Crutchfield number here, it's 1-800-955-3000. Hope this helps.

Looks pretty good,

Just ordered an Alpine CDA-7878 H/U so I will need the dash Kit too.

OK I hope this dosn't sound stupid but Does the kit include everything or is there some other parts I need to get, what does the new H/U attach to? does it use screws (I assume) or what?

Could use some more guidance as I wish to get everything ahead of time for the quickest installition possable with the littlest muss and fuss...

Anyone have part numbers?

Jim

THE KIT I WAS TALKING ABOUT IS CALLED THE E-Z MOUNTING KIT. YOU CAN ORDER IT AT CRUTCHFIELD FOR ABOUT $12.00 IT JUST SNAPS INTO THE OPEN SPACE IN YOUR DASH, AND THEN YOU JUST SLIDE THE SLEEVE THAT GOES AROUND THE RECEIVER IN THERE. IF YOU LOOK IN THE HOLE THAT THE OLD RECIEVER CAME OUT OF, THERE IS A SMALL METAL LIP BACK THERE. JUST REACH IN THERE AND PRY UP ON IT SO YOU'LL HAVE SOME KIND OF SUPPORT TO HOLD THE BACK END OF THE NEW RECIEVER UP WHEN YOU PUSH IT IN FOR FINAL ASSEMBLY. AND DON'T FORGET, BEFORE YOU SLIDE THE RECIEVER IN THE SLEEVE, PRY UP THE METAL TABS ON THE SLEEVE TO HOLD THE H.U. IN PLACE SO IT DOES'NT SLIDE OUT. HOPE I HELPED YOU. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, JUST ASK.

The sleeve comes with the head unit. I used a Metra kit (for and older Ford application) and put an EQ UNDER mine....looks cool and sounds even better....
