I've owned the Polk components in my 05 and 08 F150 and they've never done me wrong. I imagine JL's sound pretty good as well but it all depends on how much you are willing to throw at it. $150 components won't sound as good as $1000 components by the same manufacturer.

I'm getting Rockford Punch components in a bit only because they are inexpensive and have two tweeters to mount with different options on mounting them. I think they handle 90Wrms. Obviously there are better sounding speakers, but I don't care too much about having the world's greatest. To me, speakers aren't the only means of getting sound quality. It's also in signal tuning along with amplification.

DONT DO IT!!!! I cant stand the way punch full range speakers sound. They're so....dull. How much are you paying for them? Im sure i could find you something better for close to the same price.

To the OP, it really all depends on your price range? Good components are in the $100-$200 range, but like i said, its all based on how much you want to spend.

Well one of my buddies has a pair of these he's just getting rid of. He said he's sell them to me for $30 only cuz I built the box for his 10" shallow Pioneer and Kicker ZX400.1 amp in his truck for free. I've heard the Punch Rockford Components before, they aren't too bad. I've been wanting the 6.5" Alpine Type R Components, but I'm on unemployment right now and I can't just blow away money on things. I know there are component systems better than the Rockford, but I like them because of the dual-tweeter placement. Rockfords just need to be amped, I think that's their only downfall.

Yeah. I'm still debating about that though, only because that's $30 I could hang on to and spend towards a set of Alpine Type R components, Infinity Kappa Perfects, or even the MTX Axe "High-End" Components. I haven't checked the pricing of the MTX, I'm sure they're a rip, but I love MTX equipment. I've never had garbage MTX stuff. What component system do you feel gives the best bang for your buck? More than likely you've had more experience with that then me.

Just depends on where you buy from. Authorized dealers will usually be a tad more pricey then these online dealers which have no warranties.

The only components ive ever installed that i havent liked are the kenwoods and the rockfords. Ive put in infinity reference, infinity kappa, alpine S, alpine R, pioneer TS, and pioneer D. All can sound pretty good with proper amplification.

Personally the only crappy speakers I've dealt with are those that aren't round. They get horrible bass response, which I guess is why I prefer round woofers over square, pentagon, hexagon, and triangle. There's a local car stereo shop that has a set of Boston Acoustics components. I forgot the series name, but I quickly looked away when I saw the $700 price tag. But man they were awesome!! I've always loved BA stuff.
