What are you using to fill the gap that a replacment head unit leaves besides the ugly plastic filler? Is there a storage tray or something else I can use?

A company named Scosche makes an installation adapter that will work in your truck. One model provides a pocket above head unit and another model provides it below the unit. Their URL is

That about settles it. I've been leaning towards a double DIN unit, but a lot of the double DIN units don't have as many features as the single DIN units. (I don't care about the cassette.) Combine lack of features with having to cut into the dash, and I'm leaning towards this solution. At least if I sell the truck, I can take my stereo with me.

Thumbs up

Found out that the Scosche kit part number FD1280 is carried at Walmart for the F150 and costs approximately $10. If you order from Scosche it is $14.95 + $4 shipping.

How 'bout an equalizer?? A friend and I rigged the plastic bracket using a sharp knife and (lots of) glue. It has held so far.

I ordered the kit from Scoche yesterday. Looks really good compared to what I see sold around here.

I have a Kenwood double din unit and love it. The **** and buttons can be set to user color, so I set it to green to match the other controls in the truck. It almost looks like a factory unit when looking from outside. The only problem I have is that since it is slightly tilted up because of the shape of the dash, the sunlight coming from the windshield makes it unreadable at times.
