The battery has been killed by the stereo several times. I know, I abused it.
Has anybody ever put in a marine battery (deep cycle)? The cranking amps match up well, the stock is 650 and the marine is 700 @ 32 F. I have to check if it will physically fit. I was thinking about it so I could listen to the radio with the truck off, longer than 20 minutes. I have a couple of amps for the stereo. Has anybody done this? Can it be done?

Don't put a marine battery in... there are deep cycle batteries out there that are made for audio applications. The most accessible one is an Optima Yellowtop (sold at your local pep boys, autozone, etc). I have an optima yellowtop in my truck (it was previously in two cars before the truck, still going strong). Yellowtops are around $200-225 and are 870 amps.
However, I have heard of problems with them recently. So, if I needed to replace it, I would be going with a Kinetik Power cell. I have an 1800 in the rear of my truck as a second battery for my subwoofer amp. These, however are a bit more expensive than a yellowtop. An 1800 is 1900amps and is MSRP at $420, but I think you can get it for around the low-mid $300's if you look around.
I'm pushing about 2000 watts between the Yellowtop and Kinetik 1800 with a stock alternator with no caps and no dimming. If you're going to run your stereo off a single battery, check out the 1800 or maybe even the 1400 which is a bit cheaper. When my Yellowtop dies, I will probably replace it with a Kinetik 800 or 1400, so I'll be running an 800 in front and 1800 in the rear.
Of course, the main advantage of any deep cycle is that when it does, it doesn't damage the battery. So if you're experiencing frequent full discharges, a deep cycle is the way to go.
What would the problem be with a regular deep cycle. Times are tough, I haven't called the goverment yet because we are running short this month, but I am a contractor and 2 bills for a battery sounds a little high. Would the $80 from wal mart work, it comes with a 36 month full replacement and a 72 month prorated.
