CB Radio Antennas

I'm looking at getting a CB radio, mainly for the PA feature, but it'll be nice to talk to the truckers while driving down the interstates. I'll probably get a Cobra 19 from Wal-Mart unless I can find one in that price ranger that outperforms the 19.

Anyway, I'm kind of indecisive on antennas, so I'd like some input on that. I park in a garage almost every night, and the roof barely clears the garage door, so I think that would pretty much rule out any mag mount antennas. The next idea was to get a bumper mount and simply bend the antenna forward toward the front of the bed, but I'll probably be selling the truck in less than a year, so I don't want to drill any holes in the vehicle if I don't absolutely have to. So, that basically leaves me with a hood mount (which I'd still have to screw on), or trying to stick on a CB antenna with 3M moulding tape onto the bumper. Anyone have other ideas?

I was looking at that, but for that price, I'd rather get a mag mount and take it off every time I pull back in or get the 48" fiberglass or 64" stainless steel one and mount it with VHB or moulding tape and see if I don't loose it on the freeway. Thanks for the help though.

Yea I think your best bet is to just go with the Magnetic Mount.

I really need to get pics of my setup on here
Do you have a local CB shop?
You can get a stake hole mount and can mount your antenna off the side your bedrail just behind the cab of the truck

Here is link/pic of it I found online
http://www.www.premiere-electronics....re/ss194a.html

I had to mount the bracket little off the side of the stake hole, the antenna would hit the bed when mounted in stake hole so I just moved it off to the side a little more, drilled 4 holes and installed as normal. I have mine on passenger side of bed, 1st stake hole behind cab. I have a 3' wilson fiberglass antenna on a spring and clear an 8' garage door. Also this does not affect my vinyl cover that I have installed on bed

Also, bumper mount is worst place to mount an antenna, best place is mag mount on roof-but out of question-next best is bed rail behind cab with at least 50% of antenna above roof line. Just FYI

I think your best bet will be to get a whip mounting bracket that goes on the bed rails and clamps down so you don't have to drill any hole. All of my friends with CB'c have toolboxs in the back of their truck to mount the whips to. Just my opinion
