Front Headlights

Folks,

I have an 05 4x4 supercrew and sometime spend time in the country with poor lighting. I noticed there's been a new type of brighter light on the road this past few years (mostly on high end cars). I don't know what they are called but it's a clearer light.

Are there any kits for my truck to upgrade the front headlight assembly? or is it just a bulb?

Thanks in advance.

E.

search in the "Appearance Parts" section and they are everywhere... LOTS and LOTS of discussions on them on this forum recently. just if you get them, make sure to aim them a little lower than normal... they are bright!

Replaced a headlamp that was out on a vehicle this weekend.
It's just the bulb, simple process.
The auto parts store had four different 'grades' of replacement bulbs.
The oem was $10.
The top of line 'bright' bulb was $25.

If you switch, you need to do both so it's probably a $50 mod.
I don't know if you have to do the high beams too, which would bump it to $100. (?)

I got the $10 bulb and got the hell out of there.

yes there are many different headlight assemblies, HIDs are the bright ones you mentioned and yes there are kits but i know someone who has a HID conversion kit on his grand prix and they get hot enough to melt the lense if you are sitting still too long. they also have coolers for them, which he ended up getting also. also there are bulb upgrades. find some "sylvania silverstar headlights" yours are H13 or 9008(exact same bulbs) the silverstars are the brightest you can get before going to HIDs for your truck. there are also silverstar ultras but they do not make them in the style you need. also there are different headlight assemblies. you can go for harley davidson headlights, which are like yours only they are black or go on ebay and search for "projector headlights". i wanted the harley ones and ended up finding the ones in my sig.

you can also search on ebay for "halos" which is the ring around the headlight like i have or aka "angel eyes". angel eyes are usually smaller and not as bright. they are like what you see on BMWs and stuff. halos are bigger like mine and also the new camaro has them. but anyways if you search for halos, most of them are used on projector headlights so you will find both either way. also, usually projectors use the stock bulbs, mine did anyways except in PA where i live the side marker light has to be amber, mine was a white bulb with an amber cover, but my new ones had a clear cover so i had to get amber bulbs, but they are direct replacements. i got the silverstars in my projectors and they are bright. had to lower them because they were too high. normal headlights like yours have the bulb inside a little reflector cap which relects on the bigger reflector which reflects the light out on the road. projectors have a half circle magnifying glass almost, instead of that little cap so the light from the bulb goes thru this magnifying glass and also on the bigger reflector part. the bigger reflector is for shorter distances away while the magnifying glass projects the light farther out. but it is shot out in almost all directions which also means up, into the eyes of oncoming cars so you have to lower them, which on mine was easy. or if you really want to, you can take apart your headlight assemblies and paint the chrome to whatever color you want for a more custome look. i have seen red ones on a red truck on here. his were the same color as his truck. he was debating on black or the red of his truck. i dont have a pic of what he has but i customized his on a computer program so it was the best of both worlds. a cherry metallic red, red like his truck and also with the shadowy look of the black but also all custom. here is after my mod i showed him. its all up to you and your imagination...
