is it a quick release or a check valve?

a quick release is just that, a slider or something that releases the joint and leaves both ends open. a check valve acts like a quick release but closes one line off, like one side of an air compressor hose.

this shouldn't mess anything up as long as you don't flip the switch.

It is just a quick release. When i changed the fuel filter gas spilled from the disconnected line.
