need some help with UD pulleys

so i installed the troyer UD pulleys today and after getting it all put back together and starting the engine. there is a loud ticking sound, i assume its the crankshaft pulley because it sounds like it is coming from there but im not sure.

also my check engine light was on and had thrown these codes

IAT was sensing temperature

and 2 things that had to do with the fan clutch i cant remember what they said

do guys think it is safe enough to drive to the ford dealership tomorrow? its about 8 miles or so.

ok so i got rid of the ticking this morning and i am still left with these 2 DTC codes on the gryphon

1. P0480 Fan 1 Control Circuit

2. P0528 Fan Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal

i dont get where i would check for this, i have the harness connected that connects to the fan and there is nothing else unplugged

any ideas?

the sensor reads off the back of the fan clutch..

thats funny i asked them about that and they said it would be fine ,,the codes would be in the computer but would'nt throw a check engine light ... mine is an 08 also

so check engine light is on that sucks,, mine have'nt shipped yet, still inline now i my not want them the way this sounds

i really dont think its a big deal. i know the connection is there and my check engine light isnt on. so i checked on my gryphon and got those codes.

i just cleared them and they havent come back so nothing to worry about you should be just fine!

and the $64,000 question is:

what improvements have you seen, and for the money, would you buy them again?

well now with the e-fans the truck is pretty darn quick. driving 300 mile trip with just the pulleys i got 2 mpg better than what i had previously. it could be higher than that i just havent filled my tank up yet.

i regret not doing pulleys and e-fans first.

i will post back what i got mpg wise of that trip but my gryphon said 17.3mpg consistantly and the truck computer said 18.2. and i got there on basically a half tank, it was about 1/8th less than half.

I may be looking at doing this to mine, sounds like it would be a good investment.

for the UD pulleys

-clutch removal wrench which can be rented at most auto stores.

-various sockets and wrenches

-impact wrench for the crankshaft pulley.

-pulley puller

for the e-fans

-wire stripper and crimper

they are both pretty simple installs. if i did both again right now it would probably take me about 6-7 hours by myself.

they are not to be done by a novice, general understanding is required
