Troyer furnishes an electrical kit with switches, connectors, etc. I chose not to use the butt connectors because I believe that causes most of the meltdown issues due to poor connections. These fans pull alot of juice and a poor connection is not going to cut it. I soldered ALL connections and haven't had a bit of problems. Then use shrink tube over the soldered joints. Also, unless they changed them, the instructions tell you to put the temp probes near the inlet hose. I put mine in the top center of the radiator between the fans. I called Troyer and they said that's where they put them now. It keeps the fans from cycling too much. One more thing. The instructions say when setting the controllers with a point and shoot thermometer, to point it at the probe. They told me to now point it at the nearest radiator tube, not the fin. I think these fans are worth every dime and would highly recommend them. Good luck.

Sundevil,

Trust me, it's not that hard to do. Just take your time and think it through. By the way, I also installed my controllers similar to what JMC did and then you don't have to remove the battery, battery tray and washer bottle. It also makes it a hell of alot easier to adjust the controllers. I sent pics to Troyer and he called me and said he liked it.

i have used both, currently have the troyer kit installed now and the fal is in the garage. the troyer kit has been on almost a year now and i have not had any problems. there was one day where i was going down the highway and cut the ac on and for some reason it took about 5 min. for the fan to kick on and the truck to start cooling. only did it once so go figure. the fal kit gave me no problems at all either. actually they have one of the best controllers out there.

It would be $429 for your pickup.

I have been debating putting this on my pickup for a while now. Lot of $$$ when you can get a different one, currently being talked about on a different thread, for under $300 shipped. I do think this may be a better setup, but is it that much better?

I had Flex-a-Lite fans on a 95 Chevy that I had. The controller burned out after about a year. I mounted it exactly were they said to on the instructions. I got a replacement one and it fixed the problem at that time. Right before I got rid of the truck, the fans stopped working completely without warning. I tried to fix them but was unable. I just put the stock stuff back on since I was getting rid of the truck. The truck that I got after that was an 05 GMC and it has factory elec fans so I didn't bother with them. I have wanted to put fans on this truck but the only thing that I have found on the FaL site was for a universal set up. I want to put the best ones on it. Does anyone know anything about the Be Cool fans?

The stock fan comes out but maybe save it for in case you would ever need it for some reason later on down the road. I would like to get a set of these fans too. I wonder if Troyer would do a nother group buy since its tax return time and a few people are looking into them again ?

If they would be willing to sell them a little cheaper, I may be interested.

Between working a full time job, running a side business and starting another business venture (+ family time) everything's still sitting in my garage uninstalled
