Pardon the ignorant question

Hi Pat,

Excellent diagram. I am ignorant though on the meaning of the numbers displayed on the relays. Could you please explain what they refer to ?

Your explanation really crystalizes the setup very well.

Its a fan controller from autozone, i dont remember who makes it, ive had it in for what about 1.5 months now... My friend that recomended it has had one in his truck for over a year now. Then his failed b.c the relay failed, and fried everything. But even so if you have indicator lights, and have a good relay and can watch your dash temp, then there's nothing to worry about

And like ive mentioned before, if you are going faster then 35-40 mph then the fan doesnt even need to be there. So you really only watch the indicator lights when you are idling or crawling in traffic.

^^^ and yeah the numbers are standard ISO relay terminal numbers

Yep but my point is for that price, make the controller 'plug-n-play' and keep one in your glovebox if it fries for backup.

Do yourself a favor and ditch the cheap controller. I went through 3 of them before I broke down and bought s Spal controller. Money well spent. This is the best price I found and and where I ordered from http://www.jaycorptech.com/showprodu...&categoryid=19 .

Great find Fire. That is exactly what I am looking for. I ordered 2 14" 2300 cfm fans off of ebay for $23.65 ea. This controller will work great. I can wire a second fan with an external relay with this. Thanks.

dual 16" fan installation goatf---

I posted a thread about a month ago regarding the painstaking lengths I went to to install my TP electric fans using the " infamous " copper rods. I had the damn fans so tight using double the speednuts, and even removing the radiator from the vehicle to get it right, that I was convinced that they would withstand any jostling and stay tight. I even pinched the ends of the rods flat, and put epoxy on the nuts. Welllllllllllll, after a month of easy road driving, they have sagged about 3/16 of an inch off my trace line on the radiator, and I can move the fans by wiggling them. Verdict?--------I was wr----I was wro----(God this hurts)---I was wrong already. Derail, here I come. ( at least I caught it b-4 I lost a radiator ) Shoulda listened to you guys. -----Oh Lord it's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way---dadada.

fan size

I'm going with a dual fan setup with 2 separate controllers, one for each fan. I have the controllers, just haven't ordered the fans yet. I see people with 2 14" or 2 16" fans. How tight fit are the 2 16"? I'm installing on my '99 lariat w/4.6 that is used for towing. I thought about 1 16" and 1 14"? What's best?

2x16" will fit. Tight - but they fit.

The larger the better (all else being equal) - some smaller fans with beefier motors and more efficient blade designs will outflow cheapie 16" fans.

Be sure you don't scrimp on either fan or controller quality.
