people with e-fans..are you satisfied

hey guys. sorry i just posted in here a fews days ago about the e-fans but i didnt ask about the benefits.. I hear that they increase mpg by 2-3 and that a noticable power gain is attained especially off the line, but i havent really gotten any feedback from people on here that have them. So guys with e-fans, how are they? was it worth the price and install? and how are the power gains and mpg gains? cuz im struggling on the gas. but imreal pumped to hear back from you guys...bring on the reviews!!!

Check my gallery for pics of the Flex a lite 270's, there awesome. Yup, power and mpg's are increased, not crazy but you'll notice. A/C runs colder, especially after a recharge. Installation was easy provided you know or have someone who knows wires. Solder stuff whenever possible and if you find some tech articles on what to do you'll be sailing. They are noisey but mean soundin'. Do it, it's really an efficient way of cooling.

I got mine installed today and I love them, There is a difference in pick up with the truck from a 0 start. Plus in a long ldle you will freeze your butt off in the truck.

I have had mine for like a year. They have worked great.
I just took a road trip hauling a small honda to Arizona and they worked great. I was in some major traffic jams in 95 to 100 degree heat and all stayed cool.

I averaged 14.5 mpg hauling the car and 21 mpg on the trip back with no load other then stuff in the bed. I also have underdrives, but I often can squeeze out 20 mpg in normal driving.

I purchased the troyer fans and have been very happy.

I've had MT's fans and under drive pulleys on now for two years. No problems so far. The two biggest changes is how quiet the truck is without the stock fan turning all the time and the coasting distance after I left of the throttle is about 25% greater. I'm glad I put them on my truck.

I've had Troyer efans for over two years now, truck runs great, fans are very quiet you have to be standing in front of the truck to hear them, ac works great, performance and fuel economy have improved slightly. If you are installing fans from a MPG enhancement only, you will never realize you're investment. They are more of a part of a total performance enhancement package. This is something that Ford should have installed from the factory.

Guys thanks alot for all of your responses they were very helpful. But now im into the predicament of what type of fans to get?? ive got it narrowed down the the Flex-a-lite 270 fans, and the troyer performance fans. What do you guys think that i should do???

If I did it over again, I'd go with Mad's fan setup.

I like the Flex A Lite 270 because you don't have to mount anything through the radiator. Several people have had problems (leaks) caused by these type of mountings.

ok guys im alittle bit confused because i have never seen a e fan in a truck or done one myself. once everything is assembled......what do i have to do? like do i have to turn it on and off and control it and stuff? or can i just install set it and then not worry about it anymore?

Basically your right with both because it allows manual on/off or it just works on its own. As long as you know wiring and where to tap into, your all set. Mine comes on at a pre determined temp by installing a probe through the rad fins, not sure the exact temp but guessed good from where I stand. I'm still debating on putting a manual switch in, maybe on day. For now, it even cycles on and off with the A/C compressor, which helps.

I'd say I picked up about 1-1.5 MPG off of the fans, the power gains aren't supercharger like but are noticable. Funny, it also makes the trucks power curve feel smoother at WOT.

As for the fans, I'd pick up some good FAL, Zirgo or Permacool fans and the Mad controller. The FAL controllers really weren't that impressive to me and you can put together a nice kit yourself for the same prce as the 270's if not less. The shroud helps but with thee output of the fans you can get (I'd recomened nothing less than 2500 CFM each on a dual setup), the shroud isn't a be all end all proposition, maybe you are losing at most 25% efficiency and considering the numbers, you waon't be hurting from it.

i would have to respectfully disagree with you there. I have a mad controller that has never controlled properly. The truck never ran hot but but it came on for no apparent reason. Someone on this forum talked me into running the ignition on circuit to the battery. As a result, the mad controller killed my battery by cycling my fan on and off over night (for no reason!).

I have ordered a dccontrol fan controller that has a softstart. This is easier on the electrical system and is a variable output. I also had a spal controller (never installed) that has the soft start feature but i think the dccontrol unit is better for the fan that i have.

I really like my FAL #270...nice fitting kit with everything you need. Instructions could be better expaining electrical hookups though...I needed some help there. Better MPG and drivability with those e-fans.

I'd go with Flex-a-lite over the others because they are enclosed in a shroud and pull air through the entire radiator. Most of the others are only pulling air through the area directly in front of each fan.
