I am looking to get a bit more power out of my 2001 4.6. I am wanted underdrive pulleys and efans, but I think im gonna go with the pulleys.

I have 33's and also a 200Watt amp and sub, will the removal of that pulley affect my truck in any negitave way?

thanks!

I don't know about the pullies, alot swear by them but I don't see the use in them unless your racing, but again, that's based on others having them not myself. I do have the e-fans and must say they are worth while. You will feel the power, not crazy but there, and it's efficient. Go e-fans, mine are the FAL 270's, as seen in my gallery. Maybe for kicks, do both as the pullies may compliment the fans in power/ efficiency gains. The slowing of the belt is more likely minimal, so I doubt it'll affect the stereo.

I didn't notice any big improvement with the pulleys, but the efans did make a big difference by freeing up some power.
The two pulley set I had actually uderdrove the alternator 20%, but no problems.

thanks for the info guys... I am looking at these fans (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...001&partid=535)

and the 4th picture down is the one for my truck

If i went with these what else would I need to purchase? a fan shroud? controllers? (im not sure what those are either)

im in college and money is TIGHT, should i go with the FlexLites and buy the things I need, or bite the bullet and buy the kit from Troyer?

The fans look good, try the FAL controller, or check their website for some accessories, temp probe, fuse block etc. The 270 kit from these guys is alot of dough, Summit has them for a hair under 400, check my gallery for some 270's pics and mounting. Alot have tried the SPAL controller too, some extra 411. The controller just is your brains that all connects to. The troyer kit, FAL kit and JDM kit are all good and cost about the same so your choice. Also, the reg. fans don't really need a shroud but it does help.

I would recommend the Flex #270 fan. Got mine from Jegs for $399 incl. shipping. I like mine...better MPG, slight performance increase and great fit including ease of installation. However the Flex instuctions could have been better in explaining where specifically to make certain wiring connections on our Fords. If you search this forum you will find some disappointment in the Troyer fans with mounting concerns, control dependability and wiring difficulty. The Troyer fans themselves are good quality.
Good luck.

I tried underdrive pulleys on my 86 Monte Carlo SS back when. Using my butt-meter, I would guess it freed up about 5hp, not very noticeable. Another thing they did was decrease the alternator voltage output at idle which worried me at night. I don't think they belong on a truck.
Save your money and put some 4.10 gears in it, or 4.56 gears. You will definitely notice that change.

2001 4.6l with a lift and bigger tires...like Roadie said save your money for gears, you could get efans, pulley's, exhaust, CAI, even headers and the gear swap would still be much more noticeable. Been there done that ha.
