Okay, so it ain't the hard core mobbin through the mud that some of you do, but this ain't your every day dirt road either. It's a little challenging to get to some of the places that I went because I have a 2WD with highway tires, but I just had to keep up my speed to make it up the 35-40 degree inclines, since I had to make up for my lack of traction by gaining more momentum.
The first photo is of a riverbed (or streambed?) that I crossed. It may not seem that challenging, and with anyone with a 4x4, or a 2WD that doesn't weigh 5000lbs, it isn't. But, there are two dips right before the sand, and I went too fast over said dips and thats when the suspension bottomed out and the valance met the gravel. The sand is very foreboding as well. I took one step after I made it across, and my foot sunk about...well...a foot.
The second, third, and fourth photos are of the place we were heading to, known locally as "The Wall", and you can see why. I didn't actually drive up either path. The second, third, and fourth from the right paths are almost 80 degrees up, and there is actually a small jump that I measured to be 88 degrees straight up.
Oh yeah, the dude in the fourth photo is my tour guide/co-pilot/navigator/whatever. I was driving, but he's basically sayin' "Go left...go right...speed up...faster..." I asked him to stand there for perspective's sake to have an idea how steep/tall/long that pathway is. He's standing about 1/3 the way up, and I took the photo at 1x zoom at the base.
