Help.

Im going crazy trying to buy a 98 F150XL. nice rig, 95k , 4.6litre, 4 x 4, ac , crank windows. Dark blue metallic with tan under body. real sharp truck.

did a car fax. 3 owners. came out pretty clean. having my mechanic go thru the car. checking to see if it has been hit and all.

alot people are telling me that 3 owners in 7 years is 2 too many owners. That they may be hiding something.

If a mechanic checks it out, a body guy checks the frame etc and it all checks out. Then why not buy the truck. its selling for $9995.

Book on it is $11, 500.

someone talk to me
!

Thanks

If you post this up in the General Discussion forum and ask "Quintin" for an "OASIS" report maybe it will reveale a little more info.

Oh, and Welcome

if it all checks out, and you're happy with the price, then buy it! 3 owners in 7 years is 2 too many??? That don't make sense. People buy and sell cars all the time, only keeping them for 1 or 2 years, etc. I've been averaging 2 to 3 years of ownership with my cars the last 8 years.

Good luck!

When I bought my truck I did a Carfax but I also had a member of law enforcement offer to run 1 of THEIR checks which is much, MUCH more extensive. He didn't give me any personal info on the other owner but he was able to verify what Carfax had told me - clean title, no salvage claims.
If you know someone in law enforcement ask if they can run a check for you too. It's a great way to add to your peace of mind.
Best of luck - keep us posted!

I hear you. I bought the truck yesterday. Well never traded cash yet , but signed on the dotted line. Found out last minute that the driver side door was all rusted out on the interior bottom. Missed it when I first saw her. A couple hundred should fix her up. Thanks for the advice.
