Question Adding your own photos to Sony Nav unit

Hi folks,

I'm a proud new owner of a 2011 F150 Platinum with the Sony nav unit. I am trying to upload some of my own photos to give my truck a more personal feel. The instructions simply say to make sure your photos are in .jpg format and 1.5 mb or smaller.

I can't get it to work no matter what I do

I put three images on a disc, all in jpg format and all way less than 1.5mb, yet everytime I insert the disc it gives me the ol "bad disc or unsupported format" error message. I've tried music cd rw, data cd rw, and dvd rw. Everytime = same result. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

I tried to do the same thing today with my new 2011 and I'm having the same results as you. Hopefully someone will let us know, or I'll just call tech support.

Here is the info without the pics from the link above:
1) ok so.. First of all the only way to do is to burn the pictures to a CD or DVD.
File size must be no bigger than 1.5MB for each picture
The file format must be JPE/JPG/JPEG
Make sure the disc has been finalized also and that its not pending to add more files.

2) load the CD or DVD into your Microsoft Sync and let it load for a few seconds.

3) then, go to your main page were it shows the ford logo and touch the ford logo.

4) Select "add" to add new pictures.

5) you will see this screen pop up confirming that you understand the requirements of the photos. If any or all of your photos on your disc do not meet these requirements they will not show up in the next screen. Just touch ok and your pictures you burned to your disc should be listed.

6) you can select what pictures you want to add or select "add all".

7) now they will show up on the right side and you can select a picture and either delete or edit it. this is what the screen will look like if you select edit. You can zoom in, zoom out, rotate, move up and down, ect.

That's pretty much it. You can do the same thing for the right side of the home screen.

Here are some pictures of the home screen set up a few different ways.

I eventually got mine to work. It is all about how you close the session on your cd. I got frustrated and gave it to my secretary and asked her to try. She did so and I put the cd in the truck ... same result .. Disc error. Then my secretary said "wait, let me try again." She did so, put it in the truck ... said photo cd .. and then downloaded with no problem. I STILL don't know what she did different, but it is definitely related to closing the session before you pop out the disc.

I screwed up the first time i did it just like you did....make sure you do the last step to the cd after burnin photos and before you take the cd out of your puter.

Been changin out the photos on my truck once a month know that I know how easy it is to do...

Picture Upload

I also have a 2013 and this may help, it also tells you that the pixel size has to be 800x384 or less and 1.5mb or less. I had that same issue until i changed the picture size in a photo editor and then they went right in. Hope this helps!
