Problems with OEM Factory Navigation

Here is the scoop, I have an 04 FX4, and I installed a factory Navigation unit in it about a year or 2 ago. I bought the unit off Ebay and had it programmed for my truck. Anyhow, after using the unit for about 4 months, all of a sudden the Navigation portion started to go weird on me. For some reason the map starts to spin, very slowly and because it is spinning it cannot keep up with my current position. The system will continue to put me in the right road, but as the map spins, it shows me going off in a different direction and it confuses the system. It starts giving me an error telling me to take it to the dealer. Anyhow, I took it to the dealer and the dealer ended up swapping it out for a refurbished one and I had to pay like $300 or something. So anyhow, the refurbished one has worked fine up until a month ago, it started doing the same thing. The map is spinning and can't keep up with my location and then gives me the error about taking it to the dealership. Has anyone had this issue? I have noticed that it seems to only happen when it is hot outside. Let me know, I don't feel like spending another $300 on this again.
