I get my tuning from Brown Brothers in Van. The other place is Mopac, never been there. There is a guy oin surrey that tunes But I do not know him. Bishops in North Van are clueless.
In the colder air in our area can be trouble, the most of the advice you will get is from the south where the air is thinner. They will run 6 pound pullys with other mods and not have to many problems.
As the truck makes more power it puts stress on the motor, rods are the week point. With dense cold air ( and a pully) the maf may not be able to keep up with the gas to air ratio, the truck leans out and a piston gets burned.
The more you hot rod these trucks the closer to the edge it gets. My old lightning was an 04. I did the ported eaton with a single blade throttle body ported upper plenun with a cold air intake. Dyno`d at 428 rear hp and just over 500 torque. Used the preditor tuner.
Brown Brothers (Wayne) will do a custom tune for yoiur truck, but first they do a dynostic on the truck ie compression test etc.. to make sure that the truck will with stand the rigors of a dyno tune.
Check out NLOC another lightning forum. Manny guys have had their truck motors blow at a dyno. Bad luck. My truck has had two motors in it alraedy, not done by me. I am enjoying the custom built block and all the benifits.
For this climate the best and safest bang for the buck is a 4 pounder with the ngk plugs. Preditor tuner with a good suporting tune. Get the tune done in the early spring so the tune is good for cold air.
