My grill surround was like that when I got the truck, but they came from Ford painted to match.

As for the gap, I was in an accident back in 2005, and when I switched out chrome bumper pieces, I moved the bumper up as much as I could to get rid of the gap. It has slipped a bit, so I need to go re-tighten it.

Yea, I did repaint my grill. Did it myself in a day, but I need to redo it.

What piece were you meaning when you said "ground piece"? Were you talking about the lower valance??
