They are just zipties with adhesive mounts. I got them from partsexpress.

How would you go about building mounting rings? Did you just use some mdf?

What is means is that they are not a direct fit for factory. You will have to either use adapter plates or build mounting rings like I did.

Hey, I read that with 6.5 components it's a "modified fit" What does that mean?

Oh okay, yeah I def plan on getting 0/2 awg before I add another amp.

True, I think I can run the speaker down the left side with the power.

oh okay, so not too much of a deal to worry with the hassle. It's an 05 and was built at the Kentucky plant, guess I'm a lucky one :). What is the molex grommet? And if I don't have it what do I have?

8awg is fine for a 400 watt amp or less. If you plan to add more or bigger amps, make sure to upgrade that later on.

Speaker wires are fine next to power, no problem there. Its just the signal RCAs you got to watch.

If you are not running much power, then you can use the stock wiring. Just keep in mind that butt connectors tend to add a little resistance, so you'll reduce power to your speakers by a tiny bit...but nothing really noticeable. If your truck is a 2004 or 2005 and was built at the Kentucky plant, you're lucky and dont have a molex grommet plug (like me!) so running new wires in the doors is really easy. If you have the molex, its hell getting new wires in there.
