Ya, those mini trucks can tear some trails up. Good wheelbase, flexy suspension, and the mods are endless ! One big craze, not sure if ya seen em, if the F-Toy class. Its a WE ROCK competetion class, where you have a Yota frame, with tube work on top. You have to stay with Toyota parts, and leaf springs, but can gear it to high heaven. Guys run these and compete in some extreme courses. Google F-Toy and you'll see. Thats what I was gunna do with the Yota I am getting, but instead I am just gunna build the Zuk up more.

Trac bars are nice, but not NEEDED. I have wheeled plenty in very flexy suspension, with out any sway bar or trac bar, it it was fine. Just be aware of it. Your rear starts bouncing, lay off a little and try something different. Body roll shouldn't be too big of an issue for ya. Each rig does behvae differently tho, so best bet is to hang around a FJ forum, and start soakin up the knowledge !

my friends got a 84 mini truck. does really good. stock but has 33's

my mod list to start is:
    4x4 labs cross over steering
    lengthen drive shafts
    shocks
    wheels/tires
those should be done by mid january im hoping then it will be once i have money but the plans are
build a trac bar for the rear, fix body, roll cage, top, rear doors, paint the whole rig, seats, harnesses, stinger and nose guard, lockers, winch

i gotta find a job when i get home to pay for all the future mods. only got enough money for the steering, shocks, driveshafts, wheels/tires right now.

do you think a trac bar in the rear is necessary or i can go without it for a while?

is their a 5" or 5.5 block out there with ears cause any kind of leaf springs would be to much for my budget right now and would 5.5" change anything from 5"
