My Classic 1973 HD Bronco
I bought this Bronco for my wife and performed a full frame on restoration with some custom upgrades. This is the much desired 1973 "heavy duty" version Bronco with stouter frame/rear end and 302 V8. The restoration was a combination of my wife and I redoing some things, using professional shops on other things, and help from friends.
BODY
The body restoration includes professional body and paint work. All glass was replaced with new tinted glass (not film) except windshield which was replaced with new clear glass. Anti-rattle kits were installed in both doors, as well as new door seal kits, new hinges, and new straps. The entire underbody, engine bay, hood, and tub were sandblasted. The tub was coated with Linex and the underbody and engine bay were resealed. All body seals (including front windshield, removable top, side glass, and rear hatch and lift gate) were removed and replaced with new seals. The exterior work includes professionally stripping, prepping, and spraying of the "Ford Thunderbird" blue paint, new fender flares, new "factory" chrome bumpers (front and rear) and bolt kits, new chrome headlight and taillight bezels, new signal gaskets, and new chrome Bronco insignia.
ENGINE & DRIVELINE
The engine was professionally rebuilt with 0.30 overbore with new pistons, valves, lifters, timing chain, gaskets, and alternator. Also installed are new Bronco valve covers, new Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, new Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, new Headman headers with dual exhaust, new 6-blade flex fan, new battery and battery tray/hold down, new air cleaner, new Mallory electronic ignition with new plugs and wires, new radiator, and all new engine wiring, belts and hoses. The entire engine bay was sandblasted and painted prior to installation of the rebuilt engine.
The driveline rebuild included clean shot and reinstall with new Hurst 3-speed floor shifter and transfer case shifter (the original "3-on-the-Tree" column shifter was removed and replaced with new column). The steering system includes a polished tilt steering column with custom Bronco steering wheel, new turn signal adaptor kit and brackets, and rebuilt steering box. The rebuilt brake system includes conversion to power brakes with new master cylinder, new four wheel disc brakes, and new lines. The original hubs were removed and replaced with new Warn manual locking hubs. The suspension system includes a new 2.5-inch James Duff suspension lift with new drop brackets, all new polyurethane bushings, new shocks, and new American Racing chrome rims and BFG tires.
INTERIOR
The interior rebuild includes sandblasted and Linex flooring, new floor board insulation, new carpeting including wheel wells and tailgate, recovered side panels and door panels, new headliner, reconditioned electric wipers, new roll cage, new 2-point seat belts, new dash pull knob bezels, tuff box with new stereo/CD player and new speakers.
