thanks for the info...really its just something to do... baught the truck before i priced a motor and i figured since i had the spare motors and trannies id just drop one in

I wish I had more information for you, but unfortunately I do not. I'm just a shade tree mechanic at best. If you have the 5.0, tranny, PCM, then I'd say you're off to a good start. I still think in the end this project is going to cost you some serious $ and headache. If you're wanting to do this swap to save some cash, I just don't think it's worth it, man. If you are doing the swap for hobby and to have something different, then good luck, it will be a first and one of a kind. Anything is possible so good luck with the swap if you decide to move forward. Post your progress and let us know how you make out. the only reason i want to put a 5.0 in the 97 is that the truck has no engine at all. i have at least three complete 5.0 engines and transmissions still in the vehicles. the cheapest 4.2 i can find was $1400. i dont want to spend that much.... i only paid $1000 for the truck
im also new to this site and havent quite figured it out yet. im tryin to find info on what i have to do to hook the wireing and stuff up but i guess im wording it wrong in the search... how do i find how to do this conversion???
