The pro comp MT's I had were great tires in the beginning, but towards the end of their life span were less than impressive. From 0-15,000 miles they were smooth and quiet, had decent wet weather traction and did everything I needed them to off road. In that mileage range I rotated them every 3,000 miles and experience even and true tread wear.
From 15,000-28,000 miles they were not so good. They became increasingly loud and got to the point of being Super Swamper loud when I finally removed them from the truck. Naturally, mud tires wear out quickly so I wasn't upset about the tread life, but more so at how they wore. Despite having a perfect alignment and frequent tire rotations, the tires cupped, cambered and otherwise destroyed themselves. I am religious about air pressure and can assure you that they were always properly inflated. After about 15,000 miles the tread blocks started to chunk and chip away and eventually I decided it was time to remove them from my truck. At 28k miles I have sections of tread with 6/32" and other spots with less than 2/32" on the same tire. Like I said, they did not wear well at all, despite proper care and a good alignment (I had the truck aligned twice, both times being told everything was in spec, and nobody could answer why my tires wore like they did).
For the record, I am running a cheap Les Schwab brand of AT tire (Hercules Terra Trac AT) and find it to be every bit as good as the Pro Comps thus far. Granted it is an AT and not an MT, but for what it is, it is doing well.
In the instructions for the Rancho lift it says the kit was developed for a 35" x 12.5" tire on an 18"x9" wheel. So you should be able to fit that without rubbing. My only concern would be about the stock 18's. I don't know how wide they are, but I know they aren't 9". Probably an 8" or 8.5". It's important to find out because the 35" tires may be too wide to mount on those wheels. My stock 20's are 8.5" wide. The smallest recommended wheel width for the 35" MT ATZ's for 20" wheels is 8.5", so I just made it. You can find that info online for whichever tire you choose. Actually just looked up the Mickey Thompson ATZ in an 18" and they can mount to an 8" wide wheel so you'd probably be fine. Zero to very minor rubbing at full lock.
My ATZ's were a good choice for me. I thought they were the most aggressive looking All-Terrain tire. They ride great and traction has been great in all weather conditions. Had a lot of snow before Christmas and I was out driving around, pulling people out with no problems. Pretty quiet, a very faint hum, usually don't even notice it... Nothing like mud tires. Mine are wearing very nicely, I do rotate them every 5,000 because I'm a freak with maintenance! I don't go offroading in my truck so not sure how they'd do on the trails. I have gotten a little mud on them pulling my tractor out of a swampy field... A couple times... Dug right in and pulled it out. If I need to replace them in the future I will be getting them again.
Still debating which lift to get? I can understand, definitely a hard decision!
thanks man , in my album "Body Lift" i had a 3" Body Lift, 2.5" Leveling Kit, 20x9 Moto Metal 951's / 35/12.5R20 Toyo M/T's. Also just in case you were interested in the apperance mods, i had carriage works replacement grill + bumper grill and clear corner head lights i got off ebay
