Sounds fantastic...
The Mountain Cats look pretty sharp on Your rig... I'm glad to see that you have the raised white lettering on the outside, I think it looks better.
I have to tell you that I have had the Rancho shocks on since last June and I love them. I love playing with them and adjusting the nine different settings. I'm not sure why others are not trying them out on this site, must be the cost.
As far as painting the inside of my wheel wells with black paint, It's not going to work with my truck. There has been a significant amount of rain up here in the Cascades and that does cause quite a bit of road garbage to land there, but I have something that takes care of that issue. My truck in fully undercoated with a black rubberized coating that protects and deadens sound. I love it, any spray paint would not adhear to that surface. The only place I need to look at for weatherizing is my drive shaft and my rear axel. I do have the proper rust inhibitor and paint for that job but the temp has to increase to do it right.
Looking forward to meeting in the not to distant future...
DEAL!!!
I'll get a check in the mail to you ASAP, and then figure a time to come down to fetch them.
I just put my MtnCats on today. Looks Great, but I was wishing for some rims to go with them. Your timing is excellent!
Photos to follow.
I'm having fun getting used to the new tires. Tickles a little at a certain speed. Got my wife to giggle :-) Definately have a little hum to them on the Hwy. I did have the center two lug rows siped, and had occasion to test them out on an unplanned 'hard braking event' in town today (I was not wired to live in Cities, I swear). Braked very Nice!
I believe it actually stears easier now than with the smaller Coopers. Can't explain it, but it feels so.
Can't wait to get them into the dirt/snow/sand to see how they do.
Nice Rims yourself. BRO is looking tougher and tougher. You'll need to get her off-road on your trip next month. Should do well in the Utah sand and slickrock.
BRO has only 7k on the OD? An 07, ain't it? Dang JD... you sure don't drive much. I have 20k on Fefay, and I was gone for a year since 07. BRO is barely broken in. Are you using Synthetic Motor Oil? Hardly even time for a second change. ROADTRIP!!!
Ryan, I have something to tell you if you are interested... I just replaced my wheels with new ones. If you are interested, the AMP Bitterroots that I have are available. You can have them for $300. They are boxed and have only 7,000 miles on them. They ran me a little over $650 two years ago. Let me know what you think.
BRO Looks good!!!
I prefer the look of the light yellow ones. I just never got used to the blue light... and you are right about them being BRIGHT! I love mine. Just gotta be careful / considerate with them.
As for the MountainCats, I plan to get them mounted this Saturday. I also have to get my daughter a new set of tires to replace her studded snow tires, so it will be a New Tire Weekend.
You're right I'm a little strange... Here's a couple of new looks...
Just the amber and crystal blue night images.... Boy are these lights bright!!! I'm really impressed... You know they still have red, green, and inferred filters... If I bought those I would have a complete collection just like "stamps" ;-) For me they are just like Lays potato chips, "bet you can't eat just one." Oh well...
I'm looking forward to hearing on your impression of the Mountain Cats...
Dang, JD - I'm dying laughing at you (I mean, 'with' you), looking at the variety of lenses you have arrayed on your kitchen table. No small collection.
They used a lot of the 'Light Blue' filters in Alaska. Very popular. I personally did not care for them. They seemed to wash out the real color of things too much for my taste. I thought the 'Amber' ones also cast too much artificial color. The 'Clear White' were really good in clear conditions, but blinding in any fog or snow haze. My favorite thus became the 'Light Yellow' lenses, which gave a nice balance of a fog/haze cutting beam without causing too much artificial color forward.
As for controls, I have an override switch much the same style and location as you do. I just have my lights slaved to my 'High-Low Beams'. It has worked well for me. I do see your point in maintaining flexability of choices, though I have never gotten into a condition where I wished I could have my lights 'On' while using my 'Low Beams'. Not to say that won't happen, but I've not been there yet. It was more improtant to me to be able to turn my lights down quickly for oncoming traffic. Hense, slaved to the High-Low Beam' switch.
I got my tires from Karl last weekend. They look Great and I'm dying to put them on. I'm going to have to keep my stock wheels for now. I just have not found any that I really like that are worth the money. Someday maybe, but for now it is 'function before fashion'. As for the tires, I just need some time to do it, as well as put on my CAI kit. Not enough hours on the weekend, I swear.
Hope you are well.
RyB
I agree with the yellow combo filters... But see I do have a problem making choices...
This is what I've selected so far... One for each day of the week...
I have decided to use a separate rocker switch on my dash for my controls...
It looks like this:
It gives me the flexibility to use the lights independently from my standard system...
It's good to here that your truck is in better shape... Plus take a road trip and get your tires...
Right On!!! They do look good!
I would recommend getting the light yellow combo fog & driving lenses. I've been using the hell out of mine and love them. Good lateral illumination as well as a haze cutting yellow driving beam - good for seeing deer in the ditches as well as the road.
Also, Fefay got a brand-new rear bumper this weekend. Back to good as new, and the other guy's insurance paid 100%. Gonna be a little more careful on I-5 now, I reckon. It is dangerous around here.
Still need to do a roadtrip to Albany to get my tires. Getting ancy for the upgrade. I'm sick of the tires I have - nasty factory tires.
Let me know how your lights work out for you. How do you have them wired in? Using the Hi Beam-Low Beam switch?
I finally have my LightForce 170 Striker running lights installed on "Big Red". It's about time, only eight months. They look very sharp. Can't weight to try them out after dark. Pictures to follow when it stops raining.
