    not quite, for a dual outlet chambered muffler its better to have a thicker inlet so the velocity flow path can hit at the right pressure and flow through it. I would definitely suggest having the stock intermediate pipe upgraded to 3" for optimal performance, flow, and sound gain. But having the 3" inlet fabbed to the stock intermediate pipe will work.

    if its a SI/SO keep it 2.5". If SI/DO go for the 3" in 2.5" out.

    hmmm who told you that?? i currently have longtube headers, full 3" exhaust no cats into a single dual inlet dual outlet dynamax ultra flow X..sounds great..

    huge difference from the stock. the truck has a definite get up and go from the line with the gears. the gears are really only set up for off the line power, dont notice much of anything if i punch it on the freeway.
