JetHat, I have a question about the tensioners on a 2005 5.4L. In the timing kit there are two tensioners and two thin metal gaskets that have the same bolt pattern as the tensioners. Do these two thin metal gaskets go under the tensioner. When I disassembled them I don't rememeber these being between the tensioner and the head. The head shows the wear pattern of the seal on the tensioner so I would think that if this metal gasket was between the tensioner and head there would be no wear pattern on the aluminum head. I have the Vol1/2 ford workshop manuals and it doesn't show this metal gasket in the exploded view. I'm just worried that there may have been a change that now requires this metal gasket. The gasket covers the entire oilway that pressures the tensioner but it has a small 1/4" hole over the oil port to allow oil to flow into the tensioner it looks like. If you could give me some advice I would appreciate it. Thanks

    Hey there jetthat.
I like your taste in vehicles.
We have the same truck (style), and the same 'toy'.
I agree from your recent post... they are money pits.
