I currently have wheel-to-wheel chrome step bars, but am looking for something a little beefier. I like the look of the 5" bars on your truck. What do you want for them? I live in WV.

Just looked at your drop pics. I think the previous owner put in an add a leaf, that's why your still 1 1/4 to high. Try taking out the AAL or replace the entire rear leafs with new take-offs or drop leafs from belltech or roush.

    check out these

Ok, I went out and measured just like you did, from the top of the tire to the bottom edge of the wheel lip and mine is at 4 1/4" front and rear.

Hey. So you have the OEM chrome flat step bars for a SC with the angled ends? If so, what would you want for them? I appreciate your response.

I didn't need any shims after I removed my blocks or after the shackles. But your mileage may vary.

In other words, every truck is different, you won't know if you need shims until you lower it. If you get a vibe, then you need them. If you don't, then you don't.

Hey Al, you wrote this in a picture comment in my gallery:

That is a great clean and not overdone looking truck you have. Was your truck a 4x2 or a 4x4 originally? What companies 1"-3" or a 2"-4" drop kit did you use? I own a 06 FX4 S/C, and i am looking for that exact stance you have. I'm already getting people asking why are you lowering a 4x4? My answer to them is, i need the 4x4 traction in the snow (Canada) and the looks in the summer (cruisin'). I already have the factory 20" rims on it. I have taken out the blocks in the rear (2" drop), next is the Groundforce 2" drop shakles for another 2" in the rear. Now i'm really stuck in how i am going to get the front down 2". Should it be just springs, whole strut assembly or just drop shocks. Let my know what you started with 4x2 or 4x4, and what you used to get the final drop you achieved. Cheers Al

Al, I have a 2wd 05 supercrew. I pieced my drop together. I started with 2" GF shackles to level my truck out. Of course that wasn't enough, so I got some 2" GF coils loaded in some 2wd front struts from another member and bought some eibach 3" drop leafs online. I had to buy a center drive shaft bearing relocator bracket to move my DS up, since it is a 2 piece on my truck. I now have eibach damper kit on the corners to match the drop components, making for a good ride. All in all my drop is a 2" front by 4" rear, since I used the 1" setting on the 2" GF shackles.

There are many drop kits available, though I would stay away from kits with flip kits. Ground Force makes kits for the 4wd trucks, as does Roush. They are top quality kits and you won't be disappointed considering your winter driving needs as for you needing a 4wd truck is concerned.

    Will

BTW 05redFX4 has a good looking setup.

Well after talking to a ford and a suspension shop they tell me i can't. The blocks have two holes that the hangers go through them, and the axle has only has one pin that goes into the spring to prevent the axle moving. I'm confused here. Does that mean my springs won't except the axles pin because the springs have two, and the axle has one, so they don't match up? I bought the 2" shackle only so far, and i think like you said it's not going to be enough. Dam!

Thanks for the info Red. Ground Force rear shakles said only 1.5" and Belltech said 2", so i went with Belltech. I paid $128 plus taxes for just the shakles up here in Canada. My trucks measurements from top of the wheel to the lip of the well is, 5 1/2" in the front, and a wopping 9 1/2" in the rear. So if i take the blocks out like you said, and put in the Belltech's, it should pretty much level out. I get a ton of snow up here, and i go cottaging/camping on gravel/dirt roads, so as much as i love the look of your truck, i still need some clearance. I'll see how it sits after the lowering of the rear only goes. I'll get pictures of before and after on here. Al
