how to tell the differences between the '99-'00 recalled and non-recalled miplates

here are the miplates and i/c cores

the recall program 10 row i/c core is on the left and the non recall 9 row is on the right

here is the 10 row i/c core and part number

and the non recall 9 row i/c core and part number

and these pictures were provided by Ride The on lightningrodder.com

The program core and a 01-04 core are the exact same core.

The program midplate has an outer bolt pattern for the 99-00 lower intake and the hole and bolt pattern for a 01-04 core. That is the reason why it got the "mutt midplate" nick name.

In this first picture you’ll see that the 99-00 intake has the IAT sensor on the Driver’s side and the 01-04 has the IAT sensor on the Passenger side.

Notice the 99-00 intake has a square pattern and the 01-04 has a diamond pattern.

Here you see the 99-00 has a smaller runner and the 01-04 has a tall more defined runner.

The 99-00 has a smaller runner inside the intake to where the 01-04 has a smooth taller runner for better flow.

Lastly you can see that the bolt patterns in the mid plate are different.

I hope these pictures will help out some of the newer guys with a 1999-2000 Lightning that are maybe planning on upgrading to the newer intake.

Thank you,

Josh

I have a 2000MY and it just started to leak. Searching on Google lead me to this thread and it kind of has me confused. Is the 10 row the newer non leaking intercooler? I've cleaned the intercooler about a year and a half ago when it belonged to my friend but I can't seem to remember how many rows it had. Worst case scenario with me have the 9 row, all I have to do is buy a midplate and intercooler from a 01-04 L, right? Thanks in advance

So I removed my supercharger and it I guess I have the 9 row ic..what are the chances of these running for 90k miles without leaking like mine? I'm about to pressure test mine..hopefully it's not leaking
