Thank you to everyone involved with this thread. Particularly lightning_svt and WHAT04. I just did the mod and it worked perfectly the first time! Excellent step-by-step instructions!!!

Have I mentioned lately how awesome this board is?

Thanks again!

Cool

Lightning_svt and what04:
Great info and detail. Following photos detail the mod to a 2001 SuperCrew. Works like a charm.

Remove Lighting control panel

Disconnect cables from back

Cut off "heat tabs" holding the face plate onto the control box

Lift the rotary part of the switch

Detail of the "arm" and "ramp"

File and/ or cut out another "ramp"

Reinstall control box and splice #2 (white/ black) and #12 (brown) wires together

Operation: Parking lights selected and **** pulled out (note amber fog light illuminated)

Auto selected with **** pulled out

Unhappy

I tryed this and I have 2 small pulgs in the back of my face plate and the dimmer one. It seems to be different then the one shown above.

Ok this is what I tryed it looked to hard to file down because on mine I can't get in there it is not in the open like the pic's above so I went with the small yellow wire and the only brown wire i have and it worked but when I turned on the headlights the fogs went out and when I pulled back like you normaly would I poped the fuse for the parking lights. so what did I do wrong or with my set up can't I do this..HELP ME THANK YOU

DR7: I believe I already answered your question by email. If not, let me know.

MN99F150-1: From your username, I can only assume you have a 99 model year F-150. The instructions that *I* posted are only good for the 2000 model year F-150's.

I performed this mod on my 2000 XLT and it worked great. I just need to get some fresh super-glue to reattach the face plate. Only thing to keep in mind is that I noticed the fog lights remain on with the high beams now. Before, they would turn off whenever you put the high beams on. No big deal to me, I just don't know about the legal ramifications.
Thanks for posting the pictures, they helped out a lot. Make sure to take it slow when you take the switch apart. There are a lot of little parts that could easily get broken!

Houndog-

No trick, just kinda have to pull. Take a look at the photos by FedExPilot, you should be able to see the location of two of the metal clips holding the pod in the dash. The third is centered on the bottom.

I pried one side out using a medium screwdriver that had a wide flat tip, and a rag to protect the dash. After I got one side partway out, I used my fingers/hands to coax the whole thing out the rest of the way.

The first time was very unnerving, and I'll admit to a lot of sphincter clenchage.. I didn't want to break my brand new truck either. There's no great way to really explain the process, but definately go slow. Once you get the thing out, it'll seem so simplistic...

Good luck, hoped that helped.

This sounds pretty straitforward and is a mod I've wanted to make since I bought the truck.

But before I start hacking does anyone know what a new switch module goes for if I butcher this one?

Mine cost $79.91 in Canada, so I would expect around $50-60.00 U.S. You wont butcher it if you take your time and look carefully at what you're trying to do. Just think it through.

Good luck!!! (The hardest part is getting the switch out of the dash!!)

Thanks to all those that contributed to this post. Especially WHAT04 and FedExPilot. I was bored today and have always wanted to do this, but it never bugged me to the point of actually doing it.

Well, I did it and I'm glad I did. Had it not been for the posts of What04 and FedExPilot's photos, I probably would have just put it off. I can't wait for other G2 owners in my area to ask why my fogs come on with just the parking lamps and theirs won't. (And automatic lamps too)

Question

Did I miss something here because on my L all I have to do, is leave the auto on switch on and turn the head light **** to the right and pull out to turn on the fogs. They stay on till I turn them off.
