Talking You people & Truck Trend Magazine have corrupted me.

Last Saturday I saw the smokin red 2001 L on the cover of Truck Trend Magazine & had to buy the issue, I had heard about the Lightning’s occasionally on the Ford-Diesel boards but had never saw one or read up on them before. 2 minutes after reading that article I was typing ford lightning into search engines & hitting all the message boards & test reports for hours every night.
After 2 days of reading the boards & everyone’s enthusiasm I knew I had to have one. I live in B.F.E. (northern WI) so I was a little disappointed when I found out the closest SVT dealer was 200 miles away and they didn’t have any L’s, so I let my fingers do the walking and found the best deal in Waukesha, WI for $30,100 & gave them a credit card deposit & I am picking it up Saturday (still never saw one in person, much less drove one).
Ok now’s where you trouble makers have to help me out since its really your fault.
I already ordered my Valentine One and it will be here in time for the 350 mile ride home Saturday.{Grin/Pant}
I know I want the bed rug, is that $330 deal still on or am I too late?
I also want the A.R.E. LSII with wing. Again there are no dealers any where near me so it looks like its mail order for me, any suggestions?
Next Up: Airaid Intake System & Big Mouth Power Unit…..This seems to be the majority consensus here on this subject, where is the best place to get these?
I see FlyingDutchman is picking up a chip for the 01, who makes it and should I wait till a few other chips are out before jumping on one?
Also on my list for the immediate future is a hood, I am leaning to the Cervini Ram Air hood (looks great from the front but would love to see a side shot of one first) & the Autobahn AAR Ram Air. Has anyone used the AAR and the working ram air intake?
Last thing is that PSP electric fan that comes mounted in a factory shroud.

I am also open to other suggestions, as what to work on after these, I would imagine a shift kit is next in line. Well sorry for being so long winded but I cant get enough info right now and after it gets into my garage this weekend I will be a ordering fool!
One last thing I read somewhere that one of the car programs on TNN will be featuring the 01 L this weekend, does any one have any more info on this?

Thanks for everything,

Lightning,
Congrats on the new truck purchaes, you'll love it. If you feel like taking a ride in your truck in April, there is a group of us going to Road America the 21-22. It would be cool to see you come down so I can take a gander at your new truck. I'm guessing it isn't much more than a two hour drive, or is it?

Just wait till you drive it, I just picked mine up Saturday and man is it a blast to drive.

You will nead the radar detector, it is allmost imposible to drive the speed limit. I was heading home today, I looked at the speedomiter and I was doing 100 mph. In my old truck(99f1504x4) I had to push it do do 90mph, in this thing you can go from 55 -100 in allmost no time without even giving it much gas.
Man I love the lightning, and you will too.

LightningSVT2001-
I just ordered a Bed Rug from http://www.tntserve.com/truck_bed_li...ce_edwards.htm $288 plus shipping($15 to texas). I ordered online but I would suggest calling them because their web site is not secure.

Rich, Congratulations on your purchase. Before you order your bed lid for that beauty look at the pro sport. That is the hottest looking lid on a lightning I have ever seen, IMHO. You can see a pic and price stuff at this thread:

If I mess up the link just paste it to your browser. Take a copilot along with you when you pick it up to keep an eye out for the highway patrol.....take care,

Welcome to da club. I've had my red 01 for almost 3 weeks and can't stop driving it, you'll end up making any excuses to start her up for a quick spin. Your spouse or girlfriend will start complaining that you spend too much time with your new toy, that's what my girlfriend is starting to say.
Get ready to turn your garage into a detail shop cause keeping your new baby spanking clean will be top priority. I've been cleaning, wiping, or washing almost everyday to keep my baby dirt free.
I see that you're already thinking of the mods. I myself been going crazy over the mods that I could do to my truck. Yesterday I just lowered the rear with some Belltech shackles and today I just spent about another $300 on speakers and Dynamat to put on my baby. Will take some after pic's of truck when I have time and post them. I also picked up an Escort Passport 8500 radar detector the other week. Next up will be flowmasters to put some nice sounds to the exhaust. Man, at the rate I'm going I think I'm going to need a second job to pay for all this $h1t.
Here is a pic of my just washed baby:

Surf...Have to show me your truck some day. Maybe we can find a place to race, do a little comparison for the "L" board. Ya might want to do a search on mufflers, don't think the flows got to high of ratings around here. Keep it clean!

SVT BOB- The Escort 8500 works great but picks up alot of other interference(walmarts, kmarts, malls, etc.). Found out just today how well it worked, going through tunnel at airport and started to pick up k-signal slowly and peak at about 2 miles later. At the end was NHP with radar trap setup and 4 NHP motorcycle patrols on the side of road giving out tickets, whew. I picked up the 8500 at Ultimate's for $285.
KGM- Sounds good. I found another 01 L owner on another board who lives in Henderson and wants to meet up at Mustang Sally's(Ford Country). Ford Country's service department sucks and they try to rip you off on their service, will never go back for service again. Give me an email.
