I get a mix of highway / city driving on every tank.

405 / 517 at the wheels, driving the speed limit MOST of the time...

I average around 15 MPG too.

The best ever, driving 70 MPH on the Interstate with the cruise control on, was 17.4 MPG (In Florida, so no hills to contend with).

Considering the weight of this thing, I don't guess that is too bad...

Hey don't knock it. The savings would almost pay for it self, or at least the depreciation on it.

12,000 city miles a year with prius cost (60mpg) ------------ 600/yr
12,000 city miles with my L cost (14mpg) ------------ 2570/yr
(3.00/gallon)

Then there is all the Hybrid Tax incentives.

But is all this savings worth being seen in this:

If it makes you feel any better, I'm paying $7.20 a US gallon here in England

Is it worth it? Hell, yes

I average high nines around town which is for me my daily ten mile commute. I have got as high a 14 mpg once, but I'm usually at eleven something on the highway. I try not to put my foot into it, but that's as hard as dating Pamela Anderson and not trying to feel her up.
