"Do the Evolution Baby" not a kill?

So spotted a new Evolution and started to pull closer to this guy from behind, ya know so I could get even before we went for it. OK he saw me sneakin' up and while I'm still about a car length back he pop's it down a gear (or 2) and hammers big time. So I'm like about a second in lag time before I jam on it and tear off after him. HERES THE QUESTION, I couldnt catch him and he couldnt pull away from me, it was pretty even from our run of about 30-90 MPH. I don't get it? If it was off the line his AWD would get me but at speed why couldnt my extra 100+ HP catch him? Could it be mod's? Aerodynamacy? (my word) Weight? Build me up guy's my feelings have been hurt! Oh wait I forgot I don't have feeling's.

Agree, maybe he had some mods too, there is a sick copmuter upgrade out that give it 300+hp and 300+ ft-lb.

Maybe you ran into one of these ?

An amazing street-version of a rally car. The Lancer Evolution will be available in the US in 2003. It will have a 250 HP turbocharged Inline-4. Will cost around $30,000. It features AYC(Active Yaw Control) which varies the torque between the right and left wheels to maintain stability. The RS450 is a modified version with 450 horsepower, 0-60 under 4 seconds and 0-100 under 9 seconds.

Think about it for a minute. If you give him a head start, he already has, we'll say, 10 mph on you. For every second that goes by until you are at the same speed, he is still pulling you. Only after you match his speed do you start to pull on him. That takes probably 4 or 5 seconds. That's why jumping another car while street racing is usually the determining factor on vehicles that are closely matched. Not that I've ever street raced or anything.

Even worse! Pulled up at the line in my 6-cyl work truck and right next to me pulls up a green 89? Cobra and next to him pull's up a 02? Mach-1. So were at the 3 lane road the light turns green and they both take off and rip down the road, the Mach-1 takes the guy but instead of going left like he was gonna he goes right cause' that's where the Cobra's goin' and it's still time to play. So I just ease out across the intersection to my next job. Man why couldnt I have had the L right then.

I think some more mods are in order. Call your nearest tuner and request a bigger supercharger pulley immediately.

I ran an EVO in my truck (370 rwhp) and killed him pretty bad from a 60mph roll. A truck with a 4lb pulley or more should have no trouble with the EVO or STi in a straight line.
