A View of the Gen 3?

Could this be a hint of what the Gen 3 Lightning will look like?
The cover shot on the Aug 16 AutoWeek has a nice smoking burnout of this truck

Looks really cool. I have to say the hood scoops look mean on these big trucks. The SRT-10 looks killer with the scoop.

Yeah, it's a Roush 150.
I figured we could see a new 150 with a performance look to it and get some sort of an idea what the new Lightning might look like. I too am starting to like that scoop

But me thinks Big Man will be kicking some butts, because you can bet Ford isn't going to retool, for a limited production vehicle

This is definitely not the new Lightning. This is a Roush Tejon Stage III. The article that goes along with the cover profiles Roush's attempt to quell the desires of all those waiting for a Gen 3 Lightning. Ford is likely to keep mum about the New Lightning at least until the auto shows, and lucky for us, they're coming up in a few months.

Here's a few specs:
Magnuson supercharged 24 valve 5.4 Triton
Horsepower: 405 @ 5400 rpm
Torque: 480 lb-ft @ 4200 rpm
0-60 mph: around 7.25 seconds

I don’t know, it just does not stand out as unique or a bad ass so to speak. The current Gen II Lightning just has its own character and bad ass stance to it.

Don’t mean to offend anyone but the new 04 F150 is just a truck, an ordinary looking truck that has no character to it at all. It is straight looking, no decent curves, almost has a ”designed and built in China for America, cheap, cheap, cheap”. I mean what happen? Did they only give the exterior designers 20 minutes in the clay room to come up with the exterior design?

I think it is going to really take some kind of major aftermarket parts to make the current new 04 body style have, well any style at all.

The truck in the picture is not to bad looking and the scoop does look good and adds a little, but it really doesn’t look like anything unique, just a truck with some parts bought at Auto Zone…
