Gen III Lightnings, When?

Hey,

Just got off the phone with a friend , who is a big auto enthusiast( I can't count how many cars he has owned and sold). He said Blue Oval news stated like 2006 or 2007 for the new L and a cost of at least 45,000, also mentioned reading similiar info in Road & Track??? He said also something about Ford SVT not making that much money for Ford so they may just dissolve it and merge group into Ford.

He said he wasn't pulling my leg..lol

Is this all BS or anybody know?

I heard the same thing DL. I hope though it's not true. I would like to see the Gen III out at least by 2005.

I'll wait on Ford or keep my truck(can you say Built motor/KB)..

No Dodge for me... To expensive, maybe no new L for me either.

$40,000 for Gen III L is OK, that's about $8,000 more than the Gen II's. $45,000 to $50,000, I won't buy a Gen III.

Hey SVT Engineers, Make sure you read this post..
P.S. Make my GEN III with a AUTO Trans or as an Option.

I fully agree with all of that... especially the Automatic Transmission bit...

I think an automatic would be a nice option, but if SVT is going to choose between the two it should be a manual. Better track times, better mpg, better for something with that much power in my opinion.

Hmmm...We already have L's running in the 10's with more power, with AUTO trans....

03 Cobra in the 9's with a Auto trans.

Make mine a "AUTO" for sure...

Question hmm...

Maybe I'll write to Ford/SVT and ask them to put an automatic transmission in the Gen III's just so that I'll be able to drive with my hand controls. But I don't think me (sharing my one opinion) writing them a letter would do any good... who knows. Maybe I'll do it and see if I get a response... that would be cool.
Or maybe they are reading this post...

This is getting a little confusing concerning wheather there will be an 04 gen II Lightning or not.....

Today stopped at the local ford dealer here in Athens...a mgr called the factory...factory stated that there will be a normal production for all svt vehicles for 04...whick means there will be
a standard 04 gen II Lightning. The local dealer has 2-2003
Lightnings in stock and wont be allocated anymore.

Today called svt...talked to Matt (very nice helpful guy)...Matt confirmed the same thing...normal production for all svt vehicles for 04...

Is there some other info I dont know about???
